Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Civil or Geotechnical Engineering Business Leader to help grow our Infrastructure, Planning, Engineering, and Construction service line in our Austin, Texas office. This position is well-suited for a talented, highly experienced individual who is interested in being a leader and contributing to innovative and challenging infrastructure projects involving landfills, dams, mines, sediment, and other geostructural/civil designs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
We operate under a sell-manage-do culture, and so we expect that you’d work on challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management within Texas. You may also be asked to take on project management responsibilities, along with staff management and development, and mentoring tasks.
Key responsibilities for the position include:
- Lead business development and client growth in Austin and across Texas, focused on cultivating new client relationships, expanding market presence, and generating repeat work in civil and geotechnical engineering markets.
- Support development and lead the execution of a Texas-focused business development strategy, including client targeting, pursuit planning, teaming, and go/no‑go decision-making.
- Identify, shape, and win civil and geotechnical engineering opportunities, serving as a seller‑doer and technical leader on key pursuits.
- Provide technical leadership for civil and geotechnical projects, including site development, geotechnical analyses (slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, seepage, seismic), and related infrastructure.
- Oversee preparation of engineering deliverables, including design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, reports, and permit applications.
- Lead project and task management, including work planning, budgeting, schedule control, quality assurance, client satisfaction, and profitability.
- Support field activities and construction-phase services as needed, including site investigations, construction oversight, and quality assurance.
- Mentor and develop early- and mid-career staff while collaborating with regional and national technical experts to grow capabilities in Texas.
Education and Licensure
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (civil or geotechnical). (required)
- Advanced degree in engineering. (preferred)
- Professional licensure (P.E.). (required)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- At least 8 years (10+ preferred) of direct engineering consulting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
- Demonstrated strong interest and proven track record in business development of civil and geotechnical engineering projects. (required)
- Detailed understanding of geotechnical, civil, and waste containment technical concepts and regulations. (required)
- Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
- Demonstrated success in the development and management of clients. (required)
- Strong oral and technical writing skills. (required)
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
