Overview
Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early or Mid-Career Engineer - Water / Wastewater / Process Engineering to join our Industrial and Mining water group in Burnaby, BC. The group provides engineering services for the firm's clients world-wide, specialising in services that emphasise the application of innovative and leading-edge industrial and mining water and wastewater, groundwater remediation and soil remediation applications. You will have the opportunity to gain practical experience in treatment system design and construction, bench and pilot scale study development and execution, system problem solving and troubleshooting, and project management. While identifying and developing solutions for our clients, you will also be expanding the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Preparation of engineering calculations;
- Preparation of technical reports to communicate data analysis;
- Laboratory and/or fieldwork;
- Design of process engineering systems (i.e. industrial water, wastewater, mine impacted water, and remediation), including sampling and characterisation, bench and pilot scale treatability evaluations, PFD and P&ID development, production of detailed engineering drawings and equipment specifications, construction supervision, and commissioning;
- Economic and technical evaluation of treatment technologies;
- Process engineering system evaluation and modelling, resource reduction audits, and operational troubleshooting; and
- Perform tasks in other company practice areas as needed. Tasks will be assigned to develop knowledge, skills, and abilities in these technical disciplines and the business of professional consulting services.
Education and Licensure
- Bachelor's degree in chemical / mechanical / environmental engineering, or a related field of study (required)
- Advanced degree in a related field of study (desirable but not essential)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- At least 2 years (5+ desirable) of experience in engineering consulting to the mining or industrial water sectors; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (preferred)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. (required)
- The ability to conduct independent research.
- A team player with a willingness to travel to the US and abroad as required.
- Familiar with industrial processes in relation to wastewater generated in food and beverage, mining, and municipal sectors.
- Valid Canadian driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
Below is the range that we in good faith believe is the potential compensation for this role at the time of this posting and is only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.
- Minimum Salary: $86,660 / Maximum Salary: $130,215 (Burnaby, BC)
