Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental or Geo-Environmental Practice Leader to join its team in Southern California, at our offices in San Diego, Los Angeles, Long Beach, Costa Mesa, or Santa Barbara. This position is ideal for an accomplished, experienced professional interested in stepping into a leadership role and helping to expand our environmental site assessment, remediation, risk, solid waste, geotechnical and engineering practices in the region. The position involves overseeing client development, site investigations, remediation projects, and redevelopment efforts, as well as managing the financial, technical, design, permitting, and construction stages of these projects. Our clients span industrial, institutional, and government sectors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct and manage complex technical projects, utilizing your expertise to support Geosyntec in advancing its practices and capabilities through industry leadership, business development, and effective client management.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing clients, using your expertise to support Geosyntec’s growth through effective business development and client management.
- Develop business opportunities with new and existing clients and prepare associated proposals.
- Manage the overall delivery of design, remediation and restoration projects, including project planning and controls, financial oversight, change and risk management, as well as contract and subcontract management.
- Ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
- Establish and foster trust-based relationships with clients, regulatory personnel, and other project stakeholders.
- Lead recruitment efforts for key positions to expand operations in Southern California.
- Mentor and support early career staff in project execution, cost and schedule management, client relations, and career development, addressing performance concerns where necessary.
- Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
Education and Licensure
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (civil, geotechnical, chemical, or environmental preferred), geology, hydrogeology, or earth science. (required)
- Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Certified Hydrogeologist (CHG) licensure, or Professional Geologist (PG) licensure with expertise in groundwater. (required)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- At least 8 years (10+ years preferred) of direct environmental or geotechnical consulting experience with a demonstrated interest and experience in one of the following focus areas: groundwater and/or soil remediation; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
- Full understanding of engineering fundamentals associated with site remediation (required), with value-added for engineering competency in remediation specialty focus areas (soil vapor extraction, vapor intrusion mitigation systems, water/wastewater treatment, injections, etc.)
- Demonstrable track record of successful client management and business development (required)
- Thorough understanding of CalEPA and USEPA regulations (required)
- Excellent technical leadership of multi-disciplinary project teams (required)
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed (required)
- Excellent writing and communication skills (required)
- Regional visibility through involvement in professional associations or trade organizations (preferred)
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel (required)
This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.
- Minimum Salary: $121,985/year / Maximum Salary: $209,060/year (San Diego, Costa Mesa, Santa Barbara)
- Minimum Salary: $127,530/year / Maximum Salary: $218,560/year (Los Angeles, Long Beach)
