The selected candidate will help grow our contaminated site assessment and remediation practices while contributing to challenging environmental projects including the financial and technical evaluation of contaminated media and the design, permitting, and implementation of remedial technologies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop site investigation, remediation, and monitoring proposals, strategies and plans for contaminated sites.
  • Manage small to large projects, including planning and implementing investigation and remediation projects, budgeting and budget management, written and verbal communication with project teams and clients, adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and achieving profitability metrics.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor early career professionals.
  • Collaborate with peers, senior managers, and other offices to deliver successful projects.
  • Manage subcontractors, as needed.
  • Develop, design, and implement remedial action work plans and systems, evaluate environmental data, and prepare reports in accordance with regulatory and client requirements.
  • Ability to manage and adapt to changing project scopes and schedules.
  • Apply engineering principles to develop remedial solutions for variable project types.
  • Review and manage written document production.
  • Prepare for and participate in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other project stakeholders.
  • Conduct and oversee fieldwork, including multi-media environmental sampling, sediment sampling and characterization, drilling oversight, contractor oversight, and remediation system operations, maintenance, and construction.
  • Direct multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver successful projects.
  • Consistent with our sell-manage-do business model, support senior practitioners with lead generation, business development, staff development, and mentoring.
  • Help broaden our reputation via publishing technical articles and/or present at prominent industry conferences.
  • Drive personal, company, or rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering or related engineering field. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
  • Professional engineer registration (P.E.) or ability to obtain licensure within 1 to 2 years of beginning employment. (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 5 years (7+ preferred) of direct environmental consulting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Experience working within multi-disciplinary project teams, and a thorough understanding of federal and state (Pennsylvania and neighboring states) regulations associated with the assessment and remediation of contaminated sites. (required)
  • Experience with hydraulic and contaminant transport modeling tools (i.e., MODFLOW, MT3D, GIS, or similar). (preferred)
  • Proven leadership skills. (required)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Regional visibility through involvement in professional associations or trade organizations. (preferred)
  • Field work and overnight travel. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
